Trees are grown locally from seed and hardened to Gauteng conditions.

All seeds are tested and grown on our property in South Africa. Climate, irrigation patterns, soil conditions, and a host of other variables all affect growth rates and germination times. These factors can have an impact on harvest and growth.

We can therefore not be held accountable for seeds that do not germinate because we have no control over the buyer’s cultivation methods or the environment in which the seeds are planted.

Jacarandas are fast-growing deciduous trees known for their breathtaking purple blooms and graceful shade.

Perfect for:

How to plant the seeds:

  • Soak the seeds in water for 24 hours.
  • Seeds can be sown in seedling/planting trays or plant pots.
  • Place the seeds on a bed of seedling/potting soil and cover them with a thin layer of seedling/potting soil.
  • Water well.
  • Soil must be kept moist.
  • The seeds should sprout/germinate in eight weeks or more.
  • Transplant the seedlings into pots when they’re big enough to do so is they were started in seedling trays.
  • Wait approximately 8 months to do next/final transplant.

Deciduous Tree Notice

Jacaranda trees are deciduous, which means they naturally lose their leaves during colder months. Depending on the season, your tree may arrive without leaves — this is completely normal and part of its natural growth cycle.

During this resting period, continue to water lightly and keep the tree in a sunny, protected spot. As the weather warms, new leaves will begin to grow again.
