Calendula is a genus of roughly 15–20 species of annual and perennial herbaceous plants of the daisy family, Asteraceae. They are indigenous to the Mediterranean, Macaronesia, western Europe, and southwest Asia. The orange-yellow petals of the flowers are used for medicine.

Please note that Pot Marigold (Calendula officinalis) is NOT THE SAME as Marigold (Tagetes).
Precautions
Persons with allergies to other members of the Asteraceae family (such as Feverfew, Chamomile, or Echinacea species) should exercise caution with Calendula as they might experience a mild skin irritation.
